How we started

During the election campaign in the summer of 2020, candidates Barbara Brown and Christy Weir tried to place their political signs in Ventura’s tree wells and found a surprisingly high number of empty wells. The trees had died or been removed and had never been replaced. As it turns out, there are over 12,000 empty tree wells in Ventura.

That sparked a conversation leading to the development of the Ventura Tree Alliance (VTA). Soon, they recruited their first member, Nancy O’Rode, best known for her leadership after the Thomas Fire, and then Sharon Roberts, a knowledgeable friend and financial professional willing to share her skills.

Together, the goals of VTA are to address the revitalization of Ventura’s tree canopy. If you’d like to join our team, please email info@venturatreealliance.com.
